Campus Crime Report: Thursday, June 22, 2000

Assault

* June 19 -- A female employee of the International House reported that when she exited a restroom stall in the International House, located at 3701 Chestnut Street, she was confronted by a black male in his early 20s or late teens with short hair and a dark complexion, wearing a blue and white bandanna. He flashed a silver handgun at her, she screamed and he fled north from the building at 10 a.m. on June 19.

Burglary

* June 16 -- Police arrested Carl Royster after he allegedly tried to steal a wheelbarrow carrying assorted garden tools and CB radios from 2901 South Street, a landscape maintenance center, around 2 a.m. on June 16.

Theft from Vehicle

* June 19 -- A male student reported that his wallet and cellular phone, together valued at $150, were stolen from his unsecured vehicle when it was parked at 232 S. 41st Street around 3 p.m. on June 13.

* June 17 -- A man unaffiliated with the University reported that the passenger side window of his 1991 grey Honda was broken and $155 United States currency was stolen from the car while parked 200 S. 41st Street between 1:30 and 2 p.m. on June 17.

* June 16 -- A male student reported that the passenger side window to his 1985 Volvo was smashed and his Bell Atlantic phone, worth $99, was stolen when the car was parked on the 4000 block of Pine Street around 7:45 p.m. on June 16.

* June 15 -- A radar detector, Panasonic portable CD player and 40 CDs -- collectively valued at $980 -- were stolen from a car parked on the 4000 block of Walnut Street between 8:15 and 8:45 p.m. June 15. The front passenger window had been broken.

Retail Theft

* June 15 -- Rashaun Ransam was arrested after allegedly stealing three cameras from the Penn Bookstore, 3601 Walnut Street, at 4 p.m. on June 15. Video surveillance caught the alleged incident on tape and security stopped Ransam. Together, the cameras were worth $124.69.

* Police arrested Sakiya Caroll after she allegedly stole $10 worth of jewelry from Urban Outfitters, located at 110 S. 36th Street, at 4:25 p.m on June 17. The merchandise allegedly fell out of her bag while she was showing its contents to store employees after triggering the EAS security system.
