Gore to speak in South Philly today Gore, the presumptive Democratic nominee, will stop in South Philadelphia to talk with Philadelphia families at the Samuel S. Fels Community Center before heading to New York for a Democratic National Committee dinner tonight. The visit coincides with today's Pennsylvania state primary election. Although Bill Bradley's name does appear opposite Gore's on today's ballot, the former New Jersey senator withdrew from the race weeks ago and Gore has won enough delegates to assure himself of the nomination. According to Jano Cabrera, spokesman for Gore 2000, today's talk will focus on issues of particular relevance to Philadelphia families and children. "He is scheduled to be talking about social security," Cabrera noted. "You can expect him to roll out a new policy." Cabrera also said Gore's talk will "highlight his commitment to social security" and "contrast his views to those of George W. Bush." -- Stacy Humes-Schulz
