Online balloting for UA and class board positions begins today. Here are reasons to vote and why it's easier than ever. Sixty students are vying for the 25 open seats on the Undergraduate Assembly, and the rising sophomore, junior and senior classes will elect their officers for next year. And for the first time ever, voting will be conducted entirely online, through Penn InTouch, thereby making it easier for students to participate. We encourage all students to vote between now and Wednesday, April 5. Doing so not only demonstrates a commitment to civic activity at Penn, but allows us, as students, to help determine for ourselves what kind of campus we want to have. The Nominations and Elections Committee is making it easy for you to learn about the candidates -- to log on as an informed voter. Read the candidate statements in today's Daily Pennsylvanian. And attend this afternoon's "Get Out the Vote!" event on College Green to meet and question current and future campus leaders -- as well as grab a slice of free pizza. Vote because student government can make a difference. The UA showed that in recent years by pushing for such projects as Rosengarten Reserve renovations and outdoor basketball courts. And members of the UA have served on key committees considering issues as diverse and weighty as sweatshops and Penn's alcohol policy. Take the opportunity over the next week to make an informed vote for the candidates who will best represent your interests. There's too much at stake for you not to log on.
