High rises undergoing routine maintenance Associate Director for Housing and Conference Services Al Zuino said that "there has been some concern with spoiling concrete, and to avoid any danger" the buildings are being checked and the concrete will be patched wherever necessary. "Basically, what they're doing is they're evaluating the condition of the concrete structure and they're chipping away [and patching] any potentially loose concrete," Zuino said. Once the maintenance is complete, a report will be submitted concerning future changes that may need to be made during the high-rise renovations planned for 2001 as part of the University's 10-year, $300 million Housing and Dining Renewal Project. Work on Hamilton College House, formerly High Rise North, was completed yesterday, and construction on Harrison begins today. The entire procedure will be complete in 2 1/2 to three weeks, Zuino said. -- Michael Sonsino
