H.S. standout says he'll play for Penn Adam Chubb, a 6'9", 205-pound forward from Mercersberg Academy in Mercersberg, Pa., has made a verbal commitment to play for the Penn men's basketball team next fall. Chubb's place on the Quakers roster is, of course, contingent upon his acceptance to the University. Chubb chose Penn over a host of other Division I programs that showed interest. He had also considered Boston University, James Madison, Virginia Tech and Miami of Ohio. He made official visits this fall to all five finalists on his list. As a senior last year at Susquehanna Township H.S. in Harrisburg, Pa., Chubb averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game. After high school, he elected to spend a postgraduate year at Mercersburg, the alma mater of current Penn freshman Ugonna Onyekwe. Chubb is also a gifted track and field athlete, who has a personal best of 7'1" in the high jump. He was a 1999 Penn Relays champion in that event. There is no word on whether he intends to play two sports at Penn. -- Will Ulrich
