Phi Kap hosts benefit for leukemia study The Hindi a cappella group Penn Masala led off, singing two Hindi love songs and deftly inserting the Real McCoy's "Another Night" into the middle of one of their renditions. They were followed by the Counterparts, another a cappella group, who performed five numbers, including the jazz classic "Paper Moon." The Counterparts were followed by Penn Dance, who performed numbers called "Cut the Cake" and "Strictly Business." Next was Mask and Wig, who, as usual, cross-dressed and won big laughs from the crowd. Last on the program was Remark the Cat, who played without their drummer. "It went well under the circumstances," said lead singer Dave Snyder, a College sophomore and Phi Kap brother. Phi Kap President and Engineering junior Mark Valenti explained the fraternity's reasons for choosing the coffeehouse benefit over other fundraising ideas. "It's entertaining, it's fun for us to see the groups and I think it provides another opportunity for students to see a selection of the groups we have on campus," he said. --ECaryn Tamber
