Former All-American joins Wrestling staff Mountsier comes to Penn from Nebraska, where he served as an assitant coach last season. He replaces Jon McGovern on Penn coach Roger Reina's staff. McGovern left Penn during the summer to concentrate on training for the 2000 Olympics. Mountsier will be joining a Penn squad that finished 10-0-2 last winter, its first undefeated season in 31 years. The Quakers went on to finish 11th at the NCAA Championships, their best showing since they placed eighth in 1942. "I am coming to a program that has gotten better every year, and I am looking forward to joining Roger in his quest to build a highly successful national caliber team," Mountsier said in a statement released by the Athletic Department. "Penn has great facilities, boosters and an excellent overall athletic reputation that I am very excited to join." While at Nebraska last year, Mountsier coached Jose DeAnda (141 pounds) and Bryan Snyder (157), both of whom earned All-America status. Before coaching at Nebraska, Mountsier spent two years as the wrestling club coach at his alma mater, Iowa State. While a wrestler at Iowa State, Mountsier was a two-time All-American at 142 pounds. He is fourth on the Cyclones' all-time career wins list with 128. Mountsier is still an internationally competitive Greco-Roman wrestler. -- Rick Haggerty
