As dean, Gerrity oversees approximately 4,700 Wharton students, including executive MBA, evening school and doctoral degree candidates. Under his leadership Wharton's graduate division has been ranked first in the nation by Business Week magazine During his seven-year tenure as dean, he has worked to increase Wharton's endowment and create a more global curriculum. Gerrity is also overseeing the development of plans for a new Wharton building at 38th Street and Locust Walk on the site of the current University Bookstore. An authority on business change and the use of information technology, Gerrity founded and served as the chief executive officer for 20 years of the Index Group, a consulting firm that advises companies in business reengineering and strategic change. Prior to coming to Wharton, he was the president of CSC Consulting, the commercial professional services division of Computer Sciences Corporation and the parent of the former Index Group, now CSC Index. He is considered one of the leading figures in the development of the business reengineering field and is the second Wharton dean to come from the private sector. Gerrity received his doctorate in management from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from MIT and was a Rhodes Scholar in Economics.
