Fron a security standpoint, the weekend was a success - without unnecessary policing. From smoothly-run Quad checks to well-controlled block parties, the weekend was a security success without significantly hampering student enjoyment. The biggest disappointment came when Fling organizers decided to heed the dismal weather forecasts and move Friday night's concert into the Palestra. When the weather turned out, instead, to be quite mild, many students chose to stay outside rather than put up with the poor acoustics. The concert was sparsely attended. But that, surely, was compensated for by the overwhelming attendance at the post-Fling pancake breakfast -- a testament to the fact that students are interested in alcohol-free University-sponsored events. It would be worthwhile for student leaders and administrators to look into sponsoring similar events in the future and more frequently. All in all, Fling lived up to its legendary reputation. We just hope that visiting pre-frosh didn't get the wrong impression of "typical Penn."
