The Princeton Tigers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead against the University of Maryland Terrapins on their way to a 19-7 NCAA men's lacrosse championship win. Princeton claimed its second consecutive championship and its fourth title in six years, aided by Jesse Hubbard's four goals and three assists. The Tigers needed overtime in their previous three championship-game wins. They were the first team to repeat as lacrosse champions since Syracuse University won the title from 1988-90. The Princeton victory completed an undefeated 15-0 season, making them the first undefeated lacrosse champion since North Carolina in 1991. Princeton left no doubt about who would win this game even before the first quarter ended. Seven different players scored the games first eight goals. Defensively, the Tigers were more physical than Maryland all game and more active offensively with their passing and cutting. Chris Massey and Craig Katz added three goals apiece for the Tigers, who were determined not to allow the score to ever become close. In the semifinal round, Princeton blew an early lead against Duke, before rallying in the last quarter to advance to the finals with an 8-7 win. In the last week of the regular season, the Tigers defeated Penn 15-4 at Franklin Field.
