Maloney also dished out five assists per game. Maloney spent last season with the Grand Rapids Mackers of the CBA after being the last guard cut from the Golden State Warriors. After transferring from Vanderbilt following his freshman season, Maloney went on to star in his three seasons at Penn, becoming the school's all-time leader in three-pointers made. He is also third on Penn's all-time list in assists and second in steals. Maloney has also recorded two of the highest scoring games in Quakers history, by scoring 37 and 36 points against American and Brown, respectively. In 1995, he capped off his Penn career by winning the Ivy League Player of the Year award. Together with teammate Jerome Allen, now with the Indiana Pacers, he formed one-half of one of the best backcourt in Ivy Leaguehistory, leading the team to three straight conference crowns and NCAA tournament appearances. Best known for his outside shot, Maloney was invited to the CBA's three-point shootout during its All-Star game weekend last season, but he finished in last place in the contest. -- Michael Hasday
