The University is staying on the cutting edge of technology, and seems to genuinely be looking to service the students as well as they can. And Florida and Michigan State are the only schools who have already implemented the chip -- the University will be the first Ivy League school to bring their ID card to a higher lever. The new PennCard will help improve campus safety as it will be easier for security guards to make sure those using PennCards really own them. And students will be able to carry less cash, and not have to bother with quarters for washers and dryers. It will certainly be convenient. Paying by PennCard had proved popular and successful in the cases of The Book Store and Chats. We're glad the University is keeping in touch with student needs and desires. And we're glad so many groups are working together and listening to each other. The PennCard affects more than just students or administrators, and because of this, other groups have been represented in the improvement process, as well. Why can't we apply this principle to all aspects of University life? Open communication between all components of this campus is important -- it's crucial for strong inter-group relations. Any less just separates the different factions. So it looks like the students, administrators, dining, residential living and the retail community will be pleased with the outcome of the PennCard project. And so are we.
