OFSA head appointed

Reikofski has been theReikofski has been theacting director since June Scott Reikofski formally took office as the director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Friday, according to Associate Vice Provost of University Life Larry Moneta. Moneta said he selected Reikofski from a pool of five candidates. Reikofski had been serving as interim director of OFSA since former director Tricia Phaup's summer departure. Moneta reported that the search for a permanent director began in early December, and that Reikofski was the "preferred candidate." "I'm thrilled," Moneta said. "Scott has demonstrated that he will be a superb director. He's someone who will work with the Greek system as they attempt to support the intellectual aspirations of Penn." Reikofski, an alumnus of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, said he is "very happy to be back working with Greeks." He went on to praise the OFSA staff and the members of the Bicultural InterGreek Council, the InterFraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council. "I think this is going to be very rewarding," Reikofski said. "There are some good and strong leaders and a great level of dedication." He added that he will also be working closely with the Student Activities Cluster, University Life Directors and Greek and University alumni. IFC President and Alpha Epsilon Pi brother Josh Gottheimer has been in close contact with Reikofski throughout the year. "I worked with him as Judicial Manager [of the IFC]," the College junior said. "He's incredibly motivated and has a great deal of knowledge and experience." And Panhel President Jessica Schreck, a Sigma Delta Tau sister, said she agreed. "I think Scott's the perfect person for the job," the College junior said. "He's one of our biggest advocates." Reikofski said he intends to focus on unity and values in his plan to improve the University's "already healthy" Greek system. "I want to see the system working more as a whole, supporting each other, instead of as three separate systems," he said. "I'd like to see one system of 49 chapters." Reikofski added that he wants fraternities and sororities to return to their "core values" of brotherhood/sisterhood, scholarship and service, while maintaining their individual fraternity values. "I want to continue some of the positive programming, push for academic excellence, increase community service and watch the system continue to grow in number of members and number of chapters," he said.
