Police arrest shootingPolice arrest shootingsuspects at HUP He explained that a report came over the radio that three males in a car were involved in a shoot-out with two males on motorcycles. A description was given of the males and of the car, but no information was given as to the location of the shooting or the condition of the males on the motorcycles. The report concluded that the car was heading toward HUP because one of the suspects had been shot in the leg. "They had no idea that their description was over the radio," Richardson said. "Their primary concern was to get the wounded guy to the hospital." He added that having a description of the incident, the car and its drivers gave them "probable cause" to search the car. The suspects were arrested as soon as they got to HUP. "Everything just fell into place," Richardson said. "We were right there waiting for them." – Yochi Dreazen Car burglar arrested University Police arrested a suspect Friday night in connection with eight auto break-ins in a garage located behind the Class of 1920 Commons at 38th and Spruce streets. The suspect, Louis Singleton, was arrested at 9:09 p.m and taken to the Philadelphia Police Department's Southwest Detective's Bureau, according to University Police Captain John Richardson. He added that the vehicles involved in the break-ins were all located on the first floor of the garage. "The suspect figured that he shouldn't just stop with one car," he said. Richardson explained that Singleton faces separate charges of burglary and theft for each car that was broken into. According to University Police reports, a Kenwood car stereo with a CD player, Motorola cellular phone, Hobby tool kit, and an unspecified amount of cash were among the items reported stolen. The property was recovered at the scene. Richardson said University Police detectives will investigate Singleton. "They're going to see if he can be implicated in other crimes that took place in [the garage]," he said. "When you apprehend someone like this, it's very possible that there were other cars broken into as well." – Yochi Dreazen Escort van hit twice A Penn Escort van was involved in two accidents last night in Center City, according to University Police Captain John Richardson. The van was struck by a SEPTA bus at 20th and Pine streets. While a police officer was at the scene taking a report of the accident, the van was struck again, this time by a truck. Richardson said the van suffered only minor damage in the accidents, and no injuries were reported. – Yochi Dreazen
