The Daily Pennsylvanian

EDITORIAL: Catcalls

To the Penn Police officers who were fired for allegedly beating homeless people outside of FUBAR and behind the Civic Center. To Lafayette College for preventing the Penn Band from performing its planned and supposedly authorized halftime act. We accept that Lafayette's administration completely lacks any sense of humor, but we assumed an institution of higher learning would respect free speech. To the International Affairs Association for misusing funds and then refusing to allow their books to be scrutinized by the public. To students who refuse to walk with particular Penn Walking Escort employees because of the color of their skin. To the authors of the new student judicial code for emphasizing expediency over justice. And to Provost Stanley Chodorow for his refusal to relinquish control over the new judicial process. To the Undergraduate Assembly for business as usual. To the University for even considering returning the Castle to Psi Upsilon fraternity -- whose charter was revoked -- and uprooting the Community Service Living-Learning Program. To Long Island basketball star turned Indiana rookie turned Penn hopeful turned Rutgers swingman Rob Hodgson for waiting until after classes began to choose a school and then changing his mind after half a night at Penn. To the administration for allegedly attempting to censor the award-winning alumni magazine, The Pennsylvania Gazette, causing editor Tony Lyle to retire.
