The Quakers' Saturday doubleheader in New Haven, Conn., was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for today at noon in New Haven. Yesterday, Penn split a doubleheader against Brown in Providence, R.I. The split gives Penn a record of 4-2 in the Ivy League, putting it percentage points ahead of Princeton for first place in the Gehrig Division. The Tigers' record is 5-3. Penn's overall record is 11-11. In the first game against Brown, the Quakers capitalized on shoddy Bears defense to capture a 7-1 victory. Penn's Ed Haughey, who was scheduled to pitch against Yale the day before, took the mound and got his fifth win of the season to only one defeat. Stu Perry went the distance for the Bears and gave up nine hits. It was three Brown errors, though, that proved most damaging in the loss. There were two heroes for the Bears as they picked up the 4-3 victory in game two. Mike Milewski was masterful on the mound, pitching a complete-game four-hitter. Then, after the game went into extra innings, Jason Holowaty singled with the bases loaded to give Brown the win. Brown lost to Columbia 7-4 Saturday. The second game of that doubleheader was postponed due to snow -- yes, snow -- and will be made up today at noon in Providence. Complete results of all four Penn games will be in tomorrow's paper.
