IN BRIEF: Psi U's fate lies in Phaup's hands

Last Tuesday the Interfraternity Council granted provisional recognition to Psi Upsilon, reversing a decision to deny the fraternity's re-instatement nearly one year ago. Following the IFC's lead, the Greek Alumni Council approved provisional recognition status on Wednesday, leaving Psi Upsilon's fate up to Phaup. The fraternity was kicked off campus in 1990 after Psi Upsilon brothers kidnapped a member of rival fraternity, Delta Psi, handcuffed him to a pole and yelled racial slurs at the brother. Phaup said the IFC and GAC's recommendations will play a role in her decision. For example, she said she will consider the IFC's suggestion to grant Psi Upsilon provisional recognition status for two years. Usually during the colonization process, fraternities are given provisional recognition for one year and then the chapter undergoes a review process University, Phaup added. --Keith Huebsch IN BRIEF: '96 Class Board meeting to be held Juniors interested in running for their Senior Class Board should attend an informational meeting on Wednesday at 8 p.m., in room 305 of Houston Hall.
