"[Amrofell] has educational reasons for resigning and education is more important than the UA," UA Vice Chairperson and College senior Scott Sher said last night. Amrofell served almost one full term on the UA after being elected last spring. She was a member of the Coalition for Responsive Student Government. College sophomore Dain Landon has been selected to finish out the remainder of Amrofell's term, which expires in March. The UA will be dealing with budget issues during their final two meetings before elections, Treasurer and College sophomore Ashley Magids said Sunday night. When vacancies on the UA occur, the Nominations and Elections Committee approaches the top vote-getters who were not selected to the UA last spring, Hamalian said. The last UA vacancy took place in December when College senior Rashad Ibrahim resigned. College sophomore Lauren Lazare replaced him. Landon was unavailable for comment last night. -- Randi Feigenbaum The Panhellenic Council inaugurated its new board in Bodek Lounge in Houston Hall last night. About 300 Panhel members attended the annual Circle of Sisters ceremony. "It went really well," new Panhel President and College junior Suzanne Rosenberg said last night. "I was very excited." Rosenberg received a gavel from outgoing president and College senior Allison Marinoff. In her speech, Rosenberg told the Panhel leaders and sisters that "as a system [Panhel has] a lot of road that needs to be travelled, and I will need all of your support in this endeavor." Rosenberg said the biggest issue facing Panhel right now is the recommendation of the Commission on Strengthening the Community recommendation to move all rush to sophomore year. Panhel has taken a strong stance against this policy. Other members of the new Panhel executive board are College junior Toby Tucker, vice president; College junior Melissa Barkan, vice president for publicity; College junior Elizabeth Shain, vice president for rush; College junior Nancy Epstein, secretary; and Engineering sophomore Stephanie Sauers, treasurer. -- Gregory Montanaro
