Each of the students performed three different lifts -- a squat, a bench press and a dead lift. The weights for each lift are added together to get a final score, Wagner said. The five participants were College senior Sabrina Walheim (560 total pounds), College senior Pat Johnson (1316 pounds), Wharton sophomore Tom McGarrity (1350 pounds), College senior Matt Sheehan (1434 pounds) and Engineering senior Wayne Droesser (1552 pounds). McGarrity and Droesser placed third in their respective weight classes, and Walheim and Sheehan placed fifth in their respective classes. Wagner said he was impressed with the results. "Any time you place in your first meet, that's an exceptional thing," he said. "They all lifted well." -- Daniel Gingiss
