Student robbed on 38th Street

A student was robbed Saturday on the 3800 block of Locust Street by a man who simulated a weapon, University Police said yesterday. The robber took a $30 watch and $1 in cash in the 7 p.m. robbery, University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said. In an unrelated incident, a student was robbed at knifepoint on the 4000 block of Locust Street, University Police said. The robber took $20 and the student's walkman, University Holmes said last night. Neither student was injured during the robberies and police made no arrests in either case. In another unrelated incident, an apartment on the 3900 block of Baltimore Avenue was burglarized sometime during the weekend, University Police said yesterday. Holmes said the burglar forced open a second floor window to get into the building. The burglar then forced open the doors inside the residence and ransacked all the rooms, she said. Holmes added that she did not know what was taken from the building and that there were no arrests made in the case. In an unrelated incident, a student was robbed by a man who said he had a gun early Sunday morning at 33rd and Chestnut streets, University Police said. The man never actually displayed the gun during the robbery, which occured at about 1:10 a.m., Holmes said. The robber took the student's leather jacket and wallet, including $16 and his credit cards, Holmes said. She added that the student was not injured during the incident. Police did not make any arrests in the case and do not have any suspects at this time. In another unrelated incident, the Towne Building located at 220 South 33rd Street, was burglarized sometime Sunday, University Police said yesterday. Holmes said that a fax machine worth $250 and a Zenith portable computer worth $2,250 were taken from an office inside the building. She added that she did not know how the burglar got inside. Police did not make any arrests in the case.
