Four men carrying shotguns robbed three students and another man Saturday around 12:40 a.m. near 41st and Locust streets, University Police said yesterday. The students and the man, who is unaffilated with the University, were walking on 41st Street when a dark-colored Cherokee Jeep stopped in front of them, University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said last night. Four men, each armed with a sawed-off shotgun, jumped out of the jeep and demanded money, she said. The robbers took a total of $85 and then returned to the jeep and fled north on 41st Street from Locust Street, Holmes said. The robbers did not injure the students or their friend during the incident, Holmes added. University Police did not make any arrests in the case and do not have any suspects at this time. In an unrelated incident, a man attempted to rob a University student on the 3700 block of Spruce Street Thursday night at 8:20 p.m., University Police said yesterday. The student, a sophomore, was walking from Furness Building to Stouffer College House when a man grabbed her from behind and put one arm around her neck, Holmes said last night. The man pressed a sharp object against the student's back and demanded her money. The man hesitated for a moment, then pushed the student away and ran down Spruce Street toward 38th Street, Holmes said. According to police, the student was not injured during the attempted robbery and they have no suspects in the case. In another unrelated incident, a man was arrested after he was seen stealing a bike from Meyerson Hall Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m., University Police said yesterday. Police confiscated a pair of bolt cutters used in the theft and took the man to the 18th District Police Station.
