and CARA TANAMACHI A Chrysler station wagon collided with a white GMC van at the intersection of 33rd and Walnut streets Friday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., Philadelphia Police said Saturday. Philadelphia Police Lieutenant Bruce Kopena said after it was hit, the van ran up on the sidewalk by Hill House and rammed into the back of a parked Volvo station wagon, which in turn hit a red Ford Escort. A white sedan then ran up on the sidewalk and into the corner of the brick wall surrounding Hill House, Kopena said. He added that the Chrysler station wagon ended up on the opposite side of the street. Kopena said he did not know the cause of the accident. University Police said yesterday that four people were taken to the emergency room at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Kathy Kelly-West, a nursing supervisor at HUP, said last night that three of the patients were treated and released on Friday. She said the other patient was admitted into the hospital for treatment. Kelly-West added that the admitted patient is in stable condition, but said she could not disclose the nature of the injuries. At the scene of the accident an hour later, remnants of an uprooted parking sign, telephone booth and a Renter's Guide newspaper box were strewn around the van. The owner of the Volvo station wagon, Mrs. Cadwalader, said at that she had just taken her children and their friends to the University Museum and had hurried back to the car for fear of the meter running out. She said she graduated from the University in 1974 and that her husband received both an undergraduate and a graduate degree from the University. Robert Clements, whose mother's Ford Escort was damaged, said he is a visiting student from Widener University who came to do research at the University Library. He added that the day before, another car he owned had been totalled in a separate accident.
