Men with gun rob students

Two students were robbed at gunpoint by five men on 40th Street between Pine Street and Baltimore Avenue slightly after midnight Tuesday, University Police said yesterday. The students, both male, reported to police that one robber displayed a gun and demanded their money, while four others frisked the students. The robbers took the students' watches and $40 in cash, police said. "The actors then fled the scene," University Police Lieutenant Susan Holmes said yesterday. "They fled the area in a black sports car west on Baltimore from 40th street." Holmes added that the students could not identify the license plate number or model of the sports car. Police were notified of the burglary in progress via the Philadelphia Police radio. No arrests were made and the police do not know the identity of the five robbers. In an unrelated incident, the Music Building was burglarized between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, Unversity Police said. Police were notified of the burglary at 7:51 a.m. yesterday morning, Holmes said. "There was forced entry into three rooms," Holmes added. "Electronic equipment was taken." Police do not know the exact time of the burglary and are only sure that it occured sometime during the night or early morning. Police did not make any arrests and currently do not know the identity of the intruder or intruders. In another unrelated incident, an car crashed into a tree in the 3300 block of Walnut Street at 1:27 a.m. Sunday, police said. "The auto sustained heavy damage and needs to be towed," Holmes said. "Philadelphia authorities have been notified." The passengers of the car were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for medical attention, police said yesterday. The driver of the vehicle claimed that he had lost control of his brakes, police said. Police did give the driver a ticket, Holmes said. The car involved in the crash is a 1979 cream-colored Chevrolet.
