They may also encourage interaction between community members and local police -- landmarks where people can stop by for a mini-chat over mini-donuts. Put forth by University Police as an example of "community policing," we hope the new stations will fully exploit this concept to help people get to know their police force more personally. The officers serving in the mini-stations should take the time to "come out from behind the glass" and interact with people on the street. The mini-stations should exist not only in the community, but as a part of it. We extend "mini" thanks to University Police Commissioner John Kuprevich and the entire University Police force.
