Alleged panty thief awaits arraignment
Legal proceedings against Diexia Wang, the Wharton senior who allegedly stole female undergarments from Mayer Hall, will continue next week.
Wang, 21, is scheduled to be arraigned in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on Dec.

Twice in the past seven months, a Penn Police officer has used deadly force against a perpetrator - the only two such occasions in Penn Police history.
The situations that led to these incidents - a shooting at Club Wizzards in late November and an April carjacking - reflect a trend of growing violence against police officers, both in Philadelphia and nationwide.

Nov. 25 - A male student reported that at about 1 p.m., an unknown suspect removed a painting from the a building on the 3600 block of Locust Walk.
Nov. 25 - A female student reported that at about 5:05 p.m., an unknown suspect removed a computer from a secured room within the Clinical Research Building, located at 415 Curie Blvd.

Wharton junior Jason Myers was arrested Thursday for 10 burglaries committed inside Harnwell College House over Thanksgiving break.
Between Nov. 21 and Nov. 26, Myers, then a Harnwell resident, allegedly stole items from 10 different dorm rooms on various floors of the college house.

A second teenager from a group thought to be responsible for at least six robberies of Drexel students was arrested this past weekend, police officals said.

Nov. 9 - A male student reported that at about 5:30 p.m., an unknown suspect removed his bike, secured with a cable lock, from Huntsman Hall, located at 3730 Spruce St.

Two males unaffiliated with the University were robbed last week, Division of Public Safety officials said.
Two male suspects approached the victims at about 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 on the 3900 block of Spruce Street and demanded money. The offenders then took the phones of both complainants and fled in an unknown direction.

Philadelphia Police released a detailed account yesterday of the sexual assault of a female student on the 4000 block of Spruce Street.
Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit Capt. John Darby said that, after going to sleep shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday, the victim, 20, was awoken by a male lying on top of her holding a sharp object to her neck.

Total crime for October climbed slightly compared to the same month last year, though rates for violent crime decreased.
Crime for the entire year is also up, with an increase of 4.5 percent, from 660 last year to 690 in 2007.
