All over the country, student-led encampments for Gaza have popped up in recent days. The encampment at Penn was erected on Thursday following continued action at Columbia University, and since then, we have only seen the national movement continue to grow. This is a developing situation, and as of my writing this, there are over 50 encampments on campuses nationwide.

I often feel guilty taking time for myself, fearing that it will delay me in my academic work. This same mindset led my friend, who fell incredibly sick, to not seek medical attention until late at night after her last class. As the day progressed, her health grew worse and worse, but she failed to find any University facility that was open at around 9 p.m. Upon calling Penn Medicine services, her only option seemed to be the emergency department of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).

The Daily Pennsylvanian is live from College Green as pro-Palestinian activists, including Penn students and Philadelphia community members, continue into their seventh day of the 'Gaza Solidarity Encampment.' The fate of the encampment, which remains in place as of Wednesday, is highly unclear. Administrators are continuing to negotiate with organizers, but students have reported threats that the encampment will be cleared on Wednesday, and several have received disciplinary hearing notices. A rally is ongoing at the Ben Franklin Statue.
