Over the past three quarters, fatal overdoses increased 11% citywide, with the most growth among Black and Latinx populations.

After Medicaid expansion, the study found that among people with OUD who were referred by a criminal justice agency, the proportion of people receiving medicine for OUD jumped from 6.3% in 2008 to 16.5%. 

The event, titled “Addressing Social Needs to Improve Health,” featured a panel of health care and social work experts, who discussed health care’s role in filling social service gaps.
