Sophomore Garvey Heiderman backed down his defender around the right side of Yale's goal, turned back to his left and ripped a shot past George Carafides late in the second overtime, as Penn hung on to beat the Elis, 10-9. Heiderman's goal saved a second-half collapse by the Quakers, who led 7-4 at halftime.

Calhoun looks on, but his former deputies move on

Parents love to see their children succeed, but they love it a little less when those children succeed at their expense. That's the situation Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun finds himself in today when the NCAA Tournament begins. The Huskies coach will be beaming with pride as four of his former assistant coaches, including Penn coach Glen Miller, lead teams into the Tournament.

Rebuilt lineup has an imbalance of power

After losing 45 percent of its offensive production, the Quakers' lineup will be completely rebuilt when the team takes the field at Villanova on Friday. Attack. Penn has the least experience and depth here and coach Brian Voelker will start a trio of sophomores in Alex Weber, Casey O'Rourke and Craig Andrzejewski.

For the second time in five days University officials have released a security warning to students, this time involving one crime adjacent to campus and three just east of campus. The second security warning, released earlier today, comes after a series of four incidents which may be connected.

The term "online degree" might make you think of a scam in which you receive a phony bachelor's in exchange for your mortgage. These days, however, online degrees seem to be rising in status - and helping more people get jobs. But Penn graduates don't have to fear much job competition from those with online degrees, officials say, even as the industry expands.
