As Penn celebrates Black History Month through programming and events, here are five classes offered this semester across departments that highlight Black history. 

Researchers from the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Perelman School of Medicine, along with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, have developed a bioengineered chip that replicates the environment of human bone marrow for cancer treatment research.

Free and open to the Penn community, the exhibition serves as a unique collaboration between faculty, students, and the Neumann family.

The annual program will provide up to $20,000 for LDI senior fellows and $6,000 for assistant fellows. 

Penn Medicine used an artificial intelligence tool to find a treatment that aided in saving the life of a patient with idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease.

Penn researchers are developing new treatments using mRNA technology to combat a range of diseases, namely celiac disease treatment and cancer. 

The potential human health impacts from lingering pollutants is still under debate and further environmental remediation efforts at the site will likely be necessary, according to the reports. 

Also, the DP compiled highlights from Penn's fifth annual Energy Week.

The faculty represent a range of specialties, from radiation oncology to pathology and lab medicine.

This year marks the second in a row that Wharton has topped the list.

The lecture was presented by the Provost’s Distinguished Visiting Faculty Fellow in the School of Nursing for 2024-25, Patricia Brennan, who received a Master of Science in Nursing from Penn in 1979.

This year’s programming featured a range of events, from panels on conservative approaches to energy policy to an on-campus e-waste drive encouraging students and faculty to recycle old electronics. 

The course is a collaboration with Penn English Language Programs, an intensive English-language curriculum for international students and professionals.

The submatriculation process, which allows students to obtain an undergraduate and master's degree simultaneously from one of Penn's 12 graduate schools, is available to all students at Penn regardless of their school.

Several activist groups on campus and from the greater Philadelphia area co-hosted the march, which moved down Walnut Street on Monday evening.

Also, a downed power line caused a power outage on Penn's campus.
