In sports, records and statistics are often used to tell stories about a player’s journey. For Penn men’s tennis player Nicolas Podesta, his 4-0 record in singles this year certainly tells one story, but it leaves out the incredible journey that brought him to this stage.

The weather may be turning nice, but for Penn tennis, there’s a storm brewing this weekend. Both Red and Blue teams will have their hands full with their first Ivy League doubleheader weekends of the season.

Penn baseball has been on a roll as of late. This weekend, Red and Blue fans will find out just how legit the team really is. The Quakers fresh off a 11-2 shellacking of Big 5 rival Villanova Tuesday, will dive back into conference play this weekend as they travel north for a four-game series, playing Brown and Yale twice apiece.

After falling just short of pulling off a seven-goal comeback against Ivy rival Yale, the Penn men’s lacrosse team will face another tough test this weekend against conference foe and national semifinalist Brown on Saturday.

In yet another action-packed weekend for Penn Athletics, a slew of rowing, golf and track squads will be testing their talents around the country once again.

This weekend, 12 members of the team will travel to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the USAG Women’s Collegiate Championships. And despite the young team’s underwhelming sixth-place showing at last month’s ECAC Championships, individual morale is high.

“I personally have not noticed discrimination against Asian-Americans in my practice,” Laurie Kopp Weingarten, director of One-Stop College Counseling, said.

Chair of the Fine Arts Department Ken Lum initially conceived of the Monument Lab after he moved to Philadelphia in 2012. He was inspired by the city's history but felt the art didn't reflect the contributions of some of Philadelphia's greatest artists and musicians.

“We thought it would be meaningful for people of all different backgrounds to come together and have meaningful conversations about their identity, their relationship to religion and what that might mean today," TableTalks Co-Chair and College sophomore Sophia Simon said.

With the goal of forging stronger bonds among Latino men, as well as in communities both on Yale’s campus and in New Haven, the new club holds weekly brunch meetings, reported the Yale Daily News.

“A lot of us talk about jobs we’re going into after school, but it would be great to also have people talk about the charities they want to donate to and the impact they want to make in the world,” Wharton and Engineering senior Shayna Fertig said.

For Penn, this contest, and the four to follow it, are must-wins for the side seeking a share of the Ancient Eight title as well as home-field advantage come the NCAA Tournament.

When it rains, it pours. Penn Softball, like the thunderstorm that loomed overhead, couldn’t get anything going in a devastating 8-1 loss to Villanova. The results last weekend showed the Quakers (11-11, 2-2 Ivy) can come back from a deficit late, but this game was over in a hurry.

“Go out and appreciate nature, learn about local ecology and the environment, and just give yourself a little break,” Penn’s Environmental Sustainability Director Dan Garofalo said to the Penn Current.

With women's lacrosse ranked in the top 10 nationally, track and field seeing school records fall left and right, baseball having won ten of its last 11 games and more, the season has seen some supreme successes already — but only one athlete can stand out as the best. The Penn club ping pong team is in the midst of a historic season, finding more success than they have in recent years. The Quakers will send five players to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to compete in the TMS College Table Tennis Championships this coming weekend.
