Penn Sustainability is partnering with the Office of Government and Community Affairs and the Office of Social Equity & Community to make campus move-out days for students who live off campus a little “cleaner and greener.”

As an alumnus of Penn, I received communication from the University a few days ago regarding the removal by Penn Police in riot gear (with the assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department) of the encampment of students protesting Israel's violations of the human rights of Palestinians in Gaza. The University's actions have not been fair or even-handed to these students, and I believe the administration is on the wrong side of history.
With graduation right around the corner, here are the best graduating women’s student-athletes in the Class of 2024 to have donned the Red and Blue.
I have loved spending my past three years as a part of The Daily Pennsylvanian more than words can properly capture. It has almost destroyed me more than once.
I often teach capstone research courses and supervise honors theses for the health & societies major. Some of my students use historical methods to answer their research questions. Occasionally, a student asking a historical question will explore The Daily Pennsylvanian's archives. My students have experienced surprise, delight, and sometimes shock when combing through old DP articles and learning about local, national, and international issues important to previous generations of Penn students.
We are members of Penn Faculty Against Antisemitism (PFAA) who write to express our concern about the recent events on our campus; namely, the increase in discord within our community. First, we would like to thank Interim Penn President Larry Jameson and the administration, Penn Police, Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, and the Philadelphia Police Department for the effective, efficient, and professional clearing of the encampment to return our campus to a safe place for all students and faculty.
Around 50 people, many of whom were Penn faculty and student organizers of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment, were present for an emotional hourlong gathering organized by Penn Faculty for Justice in Palestine at the LOVE Statue beginning at 3 p.m.
When it rains, it pours. And when Penn women’s lacrosse plays, it’s always a downpour of goals.
Professors Ann Farnsworth-Alvear and Zita Cristina Nunes urge us to read Penn’s Guidelines on Open Expression, arguing that it would be a perversion of those guidelines for the University to discipline students organizing the encampment on College Green, or to take any measures to end the encampment other than negotiation with the protesters. I have taken their advice and read those Guidelines and find nothing that mandates negotiation as the only appropriate response by the University.
As members of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment were arrested and being loaded into vans on Friday morning, protesters gathered at 34th and Walnut streets to demonstrate against Penn’s dismantling of the encampment.
Two of Pennsylvania’s most high-profile politicians — Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro — praised Penn’s decision to disband the Gaza Solidarity Encampment this morning, while two local politicians who represent Penn expressed deep concern about the University's conduct.
The Penn chapter of the American Association of University Professors held a press conference on Zoom at 1 p.m. today condemning the arrests of 33 members of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment this morning and the suppression of "nonviolent anti-war protest."
Political science professor Tulia Falleti resigned from her position as Chair of the Faculty Senate early this afternoon in response to Penn's disbandment of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment.
When I say that I’m a double major and double minor, it sounds like a carefully planned achievement. But what truly brings me joy is not the accomplishment that’ll go on my transcript. It’s what I explain after listing my areas of study: that they came about because I went where curiosity led me.
Penn saw many noteworthy events during the 2021-22 academic year, including the first in-person semesters following the COVID-19 pandemic, the nomination of Amy Gutmann as the United States ambassador to Germany, and the announcement of Liz Magill as the University's next president. Controversy also arose surrounding the Gene Therapy Program, Mackenzie Fierceton, and Amy Wax.
Members of the Gaza Solidarity Encampment have been released from police custody after being transported to the Philadelphia Police Department’s 19th District Station earlier today.
Officers from the Philadelphia and Penn Police departments arrested dozens of protesters at the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at around 6 a.m. on Friday. The encampment was dismantled shortly after.
