Every day, students study and enjoy the historical mystique of the Fisher Fine Arts Library, the oldest library on Penn's campus. When Jessica Mertz became the inaugural director of Penn Violence Prevention in 2014, the office had just one employee — Jessica Mertz. She has since helped the office grow to employ three full-time staff as well as half a dozen students. Mertz has occupied many different positions on campus, but she has always remained at the forefront of Penn's fight to end sexual violence. A decade after arriving at her first job on campus, Mertz will leave Penn in May to become the executive director of the Clery Center, whose mission is to create safer campuses for college students nationwide.

Over the past few years, senior thrower Rachel Lee Wilson has become one of the most dominant athletes in Penn track. The numbers don’t lie: Wilson currently holds the program record in the outdoor hammer throw (63.89 meters) and the indoor weight throw (20.53m). These numbers secured her a second consecutive title in the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships earlier this season.

Since July 2018, when the news broke that former Penn men’s basketball coach Jerome Allen had taken bribes to recruit a student-athlete, much has been said about the scandal and how Allen should not be celebrated by Penn Athletics – with some arguing that he must be removed from the school’s Hall of Fame. Nonetheless, Allen had four stellar years as a player for the Quakers and is still considered one of the best in school history.
