Columbia University's wrestling team suspended over lewd GroupMe chat

In light of rising societal tensions over sexism, racism and anti-muslim sentiment, Columbia University’s wrestling team found itself in deep turmoil after a GroupMe chat surfaced, indicating that its team members engaged in lewd conversations over about three years. According to the Columbia Spectator, the chat contained racially and sexually explicit messages and quickly drew condemnation from Columbia’s officials and students alike. The university has since taken action to suspend the team as it continues its investigations into the matter.

Today, thousands of high school seniors from all over the world submitted their early decision applications to Penn. Many of them will be among the top of their class, have participated and succeeded in a wide array of extracurricular activities and aced a variety of standardized exams. Alas, if the Class of 2020 statistics are any telling of the future, 77 percent of these applicants will be thoroughly disappointed on decision day and over 90 percent of all applicants (including regular decision pool applicants) will be rejected by Penn.
