Quaker seniors Bryce Louie and Blake Broszus each won their semifinal matchup, setting up a title bout that guaranteed a trophy would be coming to Philadelphia.

Perkins, a three-star recruit out of Virginia, will be exploring options to leave Penn after just one season with the Red and Blue.

Penn wrestling wins program's first Midlands Championships team title

In the 59th annual Midlands Championships, hosted in Chicago, No. 20 Penn wrestling entered 12 wrestlers, with six ranked entrants. Despite facing competitors from No. 7 Ohio State, No. 8 NC State, and eight other ranked teams, the Quakers (1-2) came out victorious for their first Midlands title after finishing second in last year’s rendition of the tournament.

Junior forward Stas Korzeniowski has been a model of consistency and durability in his three years as a member of the Penn men's soccer team. Since joining the team as a freshman, he has not missed a single game — playing in all 50 possible matches in each of the past three seasons. The junior forward’s consecutive game streak looked to be in jeopardy after fracturing his wrist on Sep. 12 against Rider, just over a week before starting Ivy League play.

The 73-9 Golden State Warriors in 2015-16 had the best third-quarter scoring margin in the last 20 years, leading them to the best record in NBA history.

In the centuries-long history of the University of Pennsylvania, only one graduate has ever taken home an Olympic gold medal in wrestling. Brandon Slay, Wharton Class of 1998 graduate, cemented himself as the most decorated wrestler in Penn’s history during the 2000 Sydney games, winning the gold in the 76 kg weight class.

Penn men's basketball entered last season as the consensus favorite in the Ivy League, but fell far short of expectations with their third place regular season finish and semifinal exit from the Ivy League tournament. Penn men's soccer is off to a cold start to its 2023 season, especially compared to the banner year in 2022. After winning the Ivy League last year, with a 6-1 conference record and a win against Rutgers in the NCAA tournament, the Quakers have stumbled out of the gates, drawing with Yale and losing to Dartmouth before picking up their first Ivy win against Cornell. Thrust into a new role this season is sophomore midfielder Patrick Cayelli, a former elite high school recruit with some experience off the bench as a freshman. The Daily Pennsylvanian sat down with Cayelli to ask him 15 questions early into his first season as a regular in the starting lineup.
