Penn students can now design and participate in their own residential programs

Penn's residential programs have had mixed reputations, with some students alleging that they are better in theory than in practice, or otherwise too selective. As of this year, however, students will be able to design their own dream programs and consequently work with housing officials to implement them.

After the University announced a new policy that would require sophomores to live on campus, Penn students responded en masse, citing issues concerning lack of cheaper housing options, the potential damage on the West Philadelphia community, and the risk of destroying Greek Life.







Penn's pop-up Lululemon is part of national trend targeting college students

This summer, a pop-up athletic clothing store, Lululemon, opened on 37th and Walnut streets where vintage clothing store Raxx Vintage West stood before. The location follows a national trend to introduce pop-up Lululemon stores at universities in an attempt by the company to market its products toward local residents and college students. 








After son of a Bon Appetit staff shot, students and faculty fundraise for medical expenses

The 17-year-old son of Bon Appetit staff member Troy Harris was shot in February near his home in South Philadelphia, and Penn students have been fundraising to cover his estimated $10,000 in medical expenses. Bon Appetit is the service provider at Penn Hillel, where Harris works.
