For the first time, one of the University of Pennsylvania's schools is requiring its students to be trained in administering Narcan — a medication that can mean the difference between life and death for those suffering from opiate-related overdoses.

Despite having never pulled an all-nighter and rarely being awake past 12 a.m. on a weeknight, I am no better off in terms of my mental health than any other Penn student. Closing Huntsman Hall earlier won’t do anything to change student study habits other than relocate them.

As summer winds down and we get our last minute trips to the Hamptons and Ibiza out of the way, we prepare for the disgusting mess that is NSO. Juul pods? Check. Charged phone to send inevitable “You up?” texts at 6 pm? Check. Douchey outfit? Probably gotta rethink that one!

I’ve noticed that Penn students regularly use more than necessary. Disposable water bottles make regular appearances in the classroom. A chorus of agreement sounded when a friend shared that paper plates became a necessity as schoolwork accumulated. We tend to grab paper towels in needlessly thick wads.

With the help of Penn students, the Penn Relays is taking significant steps to promote sustainability at this year’s three-day event that typically attracts thousands.

My roommate and I get along well, I think, but sometimes I get a little annoyed at how he acts. I don’t know if I’m a bad roommate for thinking this, but hear me out.

Senior Master Sgt. Ralph Long pours a sample of drinking water into a jar to test for bacteria and E. coli at Sather Air Base, Iraq. Residents at Sather AB use approximately 61,000 one-liter bottles of water every week. That's more than 116,000 gallons, just for potable water. Sergeant Long is assigned to the 447th Expeditionary Medical Squadron. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Russell Wicke)

There’s both a short and a long way to share my tale and the lessons it imparted on me. The short way is as follows: why go to Van Pelt with a pound of weed in your bag? Go home and smoke your weed.

I have a confession to make: I kind of love Fling. I love it with an uncharacteristic abandon. Normally, I lack the social stamina to party hop. I find darties somewhat terrifying. (A party? In the daytime? When everyone can see? You want me to do shots before the eyes of God?) But for this one weekend a year, I make an exception because Fling feels like our own personal holiday weekend — a time when campus sheds its business-casual facade and celebrates celebrating.

The good folks at SPEC Concerts have been working tirelessly to revolutionize how people can spend $35 to black out in a poorly-lit field, and once again, it looks like they’re catching lightning in a bottle with a fresh new theme. Between rib-splitting promotional content posted on Penn’s meme page to a focused push to rebrand Fling with all the throwbacks of a Ken’s BYO without the General Tso’s chicken, SPEC is revolutionizing how to market events that people feel mild social pressure to attend.

Wow. How dare you not let me into this concert with my water bottle. I don’t care if the contents are bright red. Do you not see that the cap is completely sealed? Try opening it. You will hear the crisp snap of a fresh bottle. If that isn’t the sign of pure water, I don’t know what is.

Mariana Rodriguez (C ’18) landed her dream job for after graduation. Well, it’s not actually her dream job, because no actually dreams of being a consultant, but congrats anyway, Mari! She’s looking forward to truly live out “Penn, but make it NYC” a la Tyra Banks and Amy Gutmann.

Impressive! Penn students have abused Wawa's benevolent "free water" policy so severely that Wawa will no longer offer free water to its patrons.

It’s become undeniably clear that Russia had a massive influence on the 2016 election. Hackers infiltrated the DNC and social media trolls flooded the Internet with misinformation, all with the support of the Russian government.

The best two teams in the Ivy League will meet again, and this time they're playing for keeps.

This just in: Jenna Wilber (C '19) is a financial genius. For those of us who like drinking one GT’s kombucha a day, minimum, but don’t like the monthly cost of about $120, Wilber has cracked the code.

Aaron Becker (C ’19) has done something revolutionary.

Penn students know full well that this school has truly earned its title as the "Social Ivy." The large, vibrant city of Philadelphia surrounds us on all sides, making downtowns, BYOs, and off-campus soirées the alcoholic and drug-laced glue that binds our student body together. It's something I love and appreciate about Penn. It's the reason I have friends and lovers to call my own.

In line with last year's slew of distressing news stories, the recent reports on 2017's record-high surface temperatures were not surprising.

While most students were kicking back over break, some took the time as a chance to expand their horizons and pursue mind-opening studies through the PennInBocaRaton abroad program. The two-week homestay experience takes place in the exotic wonderland of Boca Raton, FL.
