Penn Professor Uses Nazi Phrase and Salute At Archaeology Conference

Robert Schuyler, who teaches anthropology and holds a position at the Penn Museum, held his arm in a Nazi salute and said “Sieg heil to you” after a speaker told him that the meeting, a Society for Historical Archaeology conference plenary session, was not the place for him to discuss a question he had raised about membership. West Philadelphia Protests Over Walter Wallace Jr. Continue Into Halloween

On Saturday, nearly a week after the fatal police shooting of Walter Wallace Jr., hundreds of demonstrators packed the streets of West Philadelphia to demand justice. After three nights of calm following two nights of unrest, the gathering remained peaceful, prompting cheers and chants from the nearly 500 protesters in attendance.



Philadelphia Police Shooting Prompts Heated Protests

Two police officers shot and killed a 27-year-old Black man in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, leading to protests near Penn's campus on Monday evening. At around 12:30 p.m., police officers were seen rushing toward protesters around 52nd and Walnut Streets. Video by Sage Levine
