My name is Jonathan Muruako. I am running for your UA New Student Representative because I believe in the power of society. Society can be defined as a group of people and their values. Penn’s society needs a leader who will not frown upon nor shut their ears to new ideas and underlying concerns. A Greek proverb that perfectly reflects the mindset I have towards the duties of UA reads, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” I want to continue Penn’s tradition of advocating for the present as well as the future. As UA New Student Representative, I will follow the foot-steps of our predecessors and plant trees for future Quakers to lean upon.
