Jeffrey Hart Ware, 1986 College graduate and 1994 Ph.D. recipient and staff member, died Sunday morning from cancer.
Ware was a senior research investigator in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine and author of numerous research papers. His research included cloning cancer cells, investigating how living things respond to radiation and looking for ways to prevent astronauts from being negatively affected by radiation in space.
Ware received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from Penn before working as a senior researcher.
He lived in Haddonfield, N.J., with his wife, Barbara Boyer, and two daughters, Dorothy and Isabella. He was 47 years old and was a triple black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
“He’s been with [Penn] for a long time,” said Radiation Oncology professor Ann Kennedy, who was Ware’s colleague. “He was a wonderful man, very devoted to his family.”
All donations made in Ware’s memory will go to the American Cancer Society, as requested by his family.
