In a possible suicide attempt, a woman climbed over a railing of the 10th floor roof at the parking garage at 40th and Walnut streets Sunday night.

Penn Police escorted the woman, who is unaffiliated with the University, to a nearby hospital, Division of Public Safety spokeswoman Stef Karp wrote in an email. No injuries were reported.

Police arrived as the woman was climbing over the railing and restrained her before she could jump, according to a Fresh Grocer employee who witnessed the scene.

Authorities cleared the sidewalks directly outside of Fresh Grocer just after 9 p.m., citing a possible suicide attempt at the garage.

Victor Gamez, Calder Silcox, Anjali Tsui and Nadine Zylberberg contributed reporting.
