Wharton and Engineering sophomore Justin Warner has been removed from the Undergraduate Assembly due to “excessive meeting absences,” according to a statement by UA Chairman Alec Webley, a College junior.

“This is not a resignation,” Webley said. “[Warner] simply did not attend enough meetings this semester.”

Warner did not contest his removal during the allotted two-week time period, Webley added.

Warner wrote in an e-mail that he “chose to leave the body of the Undergraduate Assembly for personal reasons so that I can focus more of my attention, time, and energy on other aspects of my life. These personal issues concern only myself and should be of no interest or relevance to the UA body, the Daily Pennsylvanian or the wider student community.”

Engineering sophomores Rudra Pampati and Anat Bordoley, the next two highest vote-getters, both declined Warner’s seat because of prior commitments.

Webley said Pampati “didn’t want to run for UA again,” and Bordoley is planning to go abroad to Australia.

As a result, Engineering sophomore Matthew Sternberg — the third-highest vote getter — will fill Warner’s seat for the remainder of this session of the body, Webley said.

Warner is the sixth UA member to leave the body this session.
