OK Go announced as third Fling band

Makers of famed treadmill music video to come to Penn

Their music video has more than 30 million views on YouTube, and now they're coming to perform to Penn.

OK Go will be the third act performing at this year's Spring Fling concert, which will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, April 11 on Franklin Field. The Chicago-based rock group will join rapper Ludacris and indie hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes, who will each take the stage for an hour at the performance.

The concert is being organized jointly by the Social Planning and Events Committee Concerts subcommittee and SPECTRUM - SPEC To Represent Undergraduate Minorities - for the first time.

SPEC Concerts director and College sophomore Preston Hershorn, who described the band as "one part power-pop, one part alternative rock, one part dance music," called them "a great addition to the lineup."

SPECTRUM director and Engineering senior Edwin Akrong agreed. "Their music will mesh well with the other two artists' and everyone loves their YouTube clips," he said.

OK Go is best known for their singles "A Million Ways," which was the most downloaded music video of 2005, and "Here It Goes Again," the low-budget music video that features the band dancing on treadmills. It became one of the most viewed videos on YouTube.

PennCard holders can currently purchase tickets for $25 on Locust Walk every Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Just over 2,500 of 8,000 available tickets had been sold as of Friday, March 21.

For the first time in Fling history, tickets will be on sale to the general public for $35 beginning today on www.upenn.tickets.musictoday.com.

A lottery at specevents.net is also currently open to Penn students until Friday, April 4 for 800 wristbands granting access to the field area in front of the stage.
