The Undergraduate Assembly held its first meeting on Sunday night, taking care of internal business and implementing new ways of reaching out to the undergraduate community, especially freshmen.
n Members passed a proposal to allow any member of the student body to speak to any issue or concern during a 10-minute Open Forum at every UA meeting.
Vice-Chairman and College junior Wilson Tong said this was an effort to engage more members of the student community. Tong added that the move would "put a face to UA members."
n Wharton junior Liz Lee was elected as the single UA representative to the Social Responsibility Advisory Committee, an advisory committee to the University Council that deals with social and environmental concerns.
Lee mentioned several potential proposals she may take to SRAC, including the institution of a formal sustainability report and the issuance of guidelines to professors and students such as encouraging faculty to use double-sided paper whenever they can.
n The UA confirmed that the University's condom distribution in college houses would expand to include Trojans in addition to Beyond Sevens.
n UA Chairman and College senior Jason Karsh announced that his second YouTube clip will be released this Friday in a school-wide e-mail.
n UA members were advised to promote the new PennAlert system so that the new opt-in system would be most effective.
n The UA passed two internal attendance policy proposals.
The next UA meeting will be held at 9 p.m. at Hill College House; the new location is part of a move to attract more freshmen to the meeting.
