About 60 people gathered Sunday night in Huntsman Hall for the weekly Undergraduate Assembly meeting. On the agenda: a contingency budget request, Locust Walk repairs, improvements to Penn InTouch and dining.

n The senior class requested $1,000 additional funding to cover Senior Performing Arts Night and keep the event free for seniors.

Wharton senior and class treasurer Bryan LaFrance brought the request to the UA, citing a budget crisis that occurred because of increased Hey Day costs from the last few years.

The UA approved the request, and the money not used for the Performing Arts Night will be put toward Senior Honor Day.

n A proposal was passed encouraging the University to allocate funding in the 2007-2008 budget for Locust Walk repairs and to set a reasonable timetable for such repairs.

n The UA passed a proposal calling for major improvements to the Penn InTouch system.

"Ideally, we would like to standardize the Penn InTouch Web site as a single location that students can use to access academic records, course registration, course listings and academic planning and degree requirement worksheets," the proposal said.

Proposed additions include an upgraded course search system that would allow students to search by day/time, professor, subject, keyword (descriptions) and requirement.

n Based off surveys conducted by the UA and Dining services, the UA passed a proposal to implement major improvements to the dining system.

In the residential dining halls, these changes include increasing variety and consistency in the food, as well as more vegetarian and international options.

It also proposed pushing back the hours of operation for all meals by half an hour. Specific hours of operation vary by dining hall.

Proposed changes to retail dining also include the possibility of a second retail food market on campus like Houston Market and an online ordering and pick-up service for Savory on Spruce, a restaurant on 37th and Spruce streets.

From here, the UA will work with the University to implement the proposals.
