After three years of disappointment, Princeton basketball may be in for another upheaval.
Head coach Joe Scott will be announced as Denver's new coach at a 5 p.m. press conference today, sources told ESPN.com yesterday.
Denver's Sports Information director would not confirm the hiring to The Daily Pennsylvanian last night, but he confirmed the press conference.
A member of the Sun Belt Conference, Denver took a first-round exit in its league tournament this year, finishing the season at 4-25 overall.
Pioneers coach Terry Carroll was fired in March after six years with the team and a 79-99 record.
Scott, 41, came to Princeton as head coach in 2004 after four years at Air Force. In his final season there, he led the Falcons to a program-best 22-7 record and their first NCAA Tournament berth in 42 years. But his first season at Princeton yielded the first losing Ivy League record in school history, and the Tigers hit a new low by winning just two of 14 conference games this year.
Antonio Porch, a senior at Denver who recently finished his basketball career there, said last night that he knew nothing of a coaching announcement.
Athletic department spokesman Mike Mahoney said that Penn had no comment on the move.
