Losers of five straight coming in, Harvard gave Penn all it could handle Friday night at the Palestra. But it wasn't quite enough as Penn used some superb individual performances to hand the Crimson a 74-71 overtime defeat in front of 6,154 fans at the Palestra. Junior forward Mark Zoller, despite a poor shooting night, scored 13 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, including a key offensive board late in overtime that set up the Quakers to put the game away from the free-throw line. Meanwhile junior guard Ibrahim Jaaber tied a career high with 31 points for Penn (17-7, 9-1 Ivy). Harvard (12-12, 4-7) forced overtime with center Brian Cusworth's third three-pointer of the game, but fell short in the extra session. Cusworth's night ended when he fouled out in overtime with 22 points and 16 boards. Brian Grandieri added 17 for the Quakers, who host Dartmouth on senior night Saturday. The win was a costly one for the Quakers, though. Senior forward Friedrich Ebede pulled his groin in the first half, did not return and is doubtful for tonight's game. The frontcourt took another hit when Steve Danley took an arm to the face and likely suffered a broken nose two minutes into the second half. For the last 23 minutes of the game, with two players of the seven-man rotation out, the Quakers went with the same five on the floor. Check out full coverage in Monday's DP.
