General admission tickets for Bono's Oct. 21 speech at Irvine Auditorium have sold out in just under a week.
The $75 tickets were the least expensive way for those unaffiliated with the University to see the rock star's talk, which is being hosted by The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.
SPEC Connaissance has reserved 100 seats, which will be distributed to the Penn community in the fall. Connaissance has not yet announced plans for distributing the tickets.
According to The World Affairs Council's Denise Bala, "hundreds" of more expensive tickets remain on sale. The least expensive remaining tickets are $175, and they come with a cocktail and hors d'oeuvre session with Bono.
The most expensive tickets, which cost $495, also include dinner with the humanitarian singer from U2.
"We knew this would be an important event for Philadelphia, but the response has already exceeded our expectations," World Affairs Council Vice President and Program Director Claudia McBride said in a statement. "Bono's upcoming speech in October and Live 8 in July are continuing Philadelphia's tradition as a global stage for the world's most influential leaders."
Tickets can be obtained by calling Upstages at 215-569-9700 or visiting www.princemusictheater.org/upstages.html.
Bono last spoke at Penn in May 2004, when he addressed graduates at Commencement.
