As Spring Fling weekend approaches, the question looms -- will the sunshine hold up?
The Daily Pennsylvanian has contacted several sources on our mission to find the answer...
n AccuWeather meteorologist Henry Margusity predicted mild weather for Fling, but did not mention any rain.
He forecasts that the weekend will be "partly sunny with a high around 60."
n The Farmer's Almanac anticipates "fair" weather on Friday, April 15, but showers on Saturday for the New England region -- the closest to the city.
Since the predictions are made two years in advance, Farmer's Almanac Editor Peter Geiger said, "It's not like I have the benefit of looking out the window and seeing what's coming."
Nonetheless, Geiger said that the Farmer's Almanac is usually 75 to 85 percent accurate.
n 'Maria the Psychic' -- who has offices in both Philadelphia and New Jersey -- said that the weather "should be mild," but felt that there "might be some rain" on Saturday, April 16.
With 39 years of experience, her Web site boasts that her readings are 90 percent accurate.
n Finally, Denver's own Stephanie Fling predicted that "its gonna be partly cloudy and a high of sixty two." As for S. Fling, she'll be throwing a party of her own: a birthday celebration for her two-year old.
But Penn students should not be too concerned about the weather.
Rain or shine, "the show goes on," said Spring Fling co-Director Catey Mark, who is a College sophomore.
With tarps to stand under and wood chips to spread on the ground in case of rain, "we generally just roll with it," said College sophomore Makeda Kefale, the other co-Director. "If the students are willing to be out there in the rain, then we'll be out there for them."
