Two unidentified men robbed a male student Monday night on the 4200 block of Pine Street at around 10:16 p.m., according to University of Pennsylvania Police Department officials.
The student was walking eastward on Pine by himself when an unknown male struck him on the head, knocking him to the ground. A second man hit the student again on the head and demanded money. The student handed over $30, and the men fled west.
The first suspect was described as a black male in his early 20s of medium complexion with a mustache and goatee, between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a black coat and brown sweatpants.
The second suspect was described as a black male in his mid-20s similar in height to the first man, weighing between 160 and 175 pounds and with a medium-dark complexion.
No weapon was used in the robbery, and the student did not sustain any injuries.
Police responded to a phone call about the incident at 10:45 p.m.
Monday's incident was the first robbery on or near campus since the start of the spring semester. In the first few weeks of the fall semester, several students were robbed at gunpoint, and several individuals were arrested in connection with some of the robberies.
Police Chief Tom Rambo was unavailable for comment, and Maureen Rush, vice president of the Division of Public Safety, did not return a request for comment.
