Man charged in burglary of high rise dorm room

Police silent on how suspect gained access to High Rise South

A 19-year-old male unaffiliated with the University was arrested for the burglary of a female student's room in Harrison College House earlier this month, according to University Police. Robert Adger has since been charged with burglary and "related offenses," Detective Supervisor Frank DeMeo said. DeMeo said that the student returned to her room in Harrison, located at 3910 Irving Street, between approximately 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on March 4 to find Adger inside. He added that Adger left immediately and that there was no report of a physical confrontation between him and the student. The student called University Police after Adger left, and "uniformed officers arrested him later on." "They grabbed him in the lobby of" Harrison College House, DeMeo said. According to DeMeo, Adger might have left when he heard the student entering the room. "He was right there at the door, [about to leave], when she walked in," DeMeo said. The student did not report any items missing from her room. University Police and Harrison College House Spectaguards said they could not provide information regarding how Adger gained access to the building or whether the student's room was secured. Harrison College House Dean Frank Pellicone said that he was not aware of the alleged incident and noted that "police don't necessarily contact me" in such situations. Pellicone added that he is usually notified if a student's room is actually broken into, as opposed to someone simply opening an unlocked door. "We've always had a problem where students don't lock their doors," he said. Pellicone said in the past, police have been "very responsive" to students' reports. "They work hard to meet our needs," he said. University spokesman Ron Ozio said he was not aware of the alleged incident and did not have information about any security measures that would be taken in response to the alleged incident.
